Pablo Alcazar wedding guitarist

Spanish Guitar Music for wedding ceremony and wedding cocktail

How to choose the best wedding music for you

The Emotional Power of Music during wedding ceremony and cocktail

Hello! My name is Pablo Alcázar, a professional wedding guitarist based in the beautiful city of Nerja in the province of Málaga. I’m a professional guitarist since 2012 and over the years, I’ve had the immense pleasure of playing at countless weddings, witnessing firsthand the profound impact music has on these special occasions. Live wedding music have a great emotional power and it can be the difference between “just another wedding ceremony” and “The best wedding ceremony I’ve had”. I often see parents and guests wiping a tear just because of the atmosphere I create with my music. Also during the cocktail wedding, music creates the proper atmosphere that you want but in order to do so, you need to find the proper wedding musician.

I’ll share my experience and expertise on how to choose the best wedding songs, explore various styles of wedding music, and offer tips on selecting the perfect songs to walkdown the aisle, among other key moments. Whether you’re looking for traditional wedding hymns or modern wedding entrance songs, I’ll try to help you gain some clarity.

Understanding the Role of Wedding Music

Before diving into specific song choices, it’s important to identify the atmosphere that you want to create and the overall theme of your wedding. Are you looking for something traditional and classic, or do you prefer modern and contemporary songs?

Your music

Should reflect your personality and the vibe you want to create on your special day.

That’s why

It is so important to connect with your musician and to have a personalized experience based on your taste

Let me guide you

Below you’ll find some ideas to start making your own choices for the music of your wedding.

A day to remember

Music to always remember this day

Guest are coming
Suddenly your friends and family (that may have not seen each other for a long time) find out your wedding place. The views, the altar, the flowers, the details... but can you picture the music? Would you rather have some classical or traditional music to lower the spirits and make an elegant atmosphere or would you like them to feel familiar and chatty having some pop/rock songs that everybody knows and like?
Walking down the aisle
They announce your entrance and everything is in silence for a brief moment. The guests stand up and your bridesmaids begin to walk. What’s the wedding song that comes into your mind for this precise moment? That’s the song I’ll be playing. It can be classical and more traditional, like Pachelbel’s Canon or the Bridal Chorus. It can be a song that shares amazing moments in your life. For example, a soundtrack from a movie you both watched during a special date, a romantic song that was present during the proposal. That’s why it is so important to have someone who can play a personalized song in a style that you love for this moment of your wedding.
Intermezzo
Every wedding ceremony is unique. You may want to have speeches, different rituals or special key moments. That is why it is so important to have personalized wedding songs for each one of those moments and to give the exact timing that you want. Having a singer or a violin with background music doesn’t allow you to get the perfect timing for each one of these moments. But Spanish guitar is the perfect instrument to lengthen or shorten the piece in accordance with your timing and with my experience, I nailed it. I have played many sacred, traditional or classical songs, for example, Ave María, Spanish Romance or Cavatina. But I’ve also played pop/rock music with the proper touch of a Spanish guitar, making everything elegant and modern at the same time. Nothing else matters, Every Breath You Take, Perfect or Here Comes the Sun are nice music for wedding ceremonies but only when you have the right wedding musician.
Signing the register
You may want to have a very fast signing or to have your time and take pictures with all your family and close friends below the altar. What music do you imagine while doing so? Uplifting music? Familiar music? Traditional music?
Recessional music
Now it’s time to release, to break the atmosphere and play something fun, rhythmic. Something powerful that changes the mood and makes everybody cheer. You can do it in a classical way with songs like the Wedding March, with soundtracks like the Rocky Theme, or even with flamenco.

Testimonials

When we arrived at the church to meet Patty, Pablo was just starting to play. We both knew that we wanted a Spanish guitar in the church for the ceremony. Pablo was exceptional. He was even able to learn some songs that are more traditionally Irish that he hadn't heard before we requested them. Everything he played was beautiful.
- Niamh and Kev
Pablo played a beautiful set on his guitar to accompany our ceremony that was as whimsical as it was emotional. He has a wide repertoire from which we selected both classical and modern songs, all of which he performed exquisitely.
- Sasha & Sam Caine
Pablo was fantastic. He provided a list of songs he could play, but also welcomed requests from us so that the music was personal to us. The songs we chose may not have traditionally been associated with Spanish Guitar, but Pablo worked his magic, and his arrangements were lovely (and even brought a tear to the eye of one very unemotional groom...lol).
- Jess & Paddy
We picked Pablo to play our wedding music at the church and he was brilliant. He played The Beatles, Avicii, Bruno Mars, and Elvis for us in the church on a classical Spanish guitar and it was beautiful. He was so approachable and communicated well through email helping us pick appropriate songs for the church. I would highly recommend as we didn't need to worry about anything on the day. He made our ceremony very special.
- Hannah & Daniel
Your playing throughout the time you were with us really set the beautiful tone for the day and your choice of "what to play when" was perfect. Furthermore, your professionalism and being so helpful as we made our plans prior to our Big Day just made everything so easy for us. Thank you again - and we look forward to seeing and hearing you play again soon.
